Picture number 2 in my ongoing tribute to women in games: Elaine Marley, from Monkey Island. My personal favorite female character in gaming for being the first to slash the damsel in distress trope. The only time she ever actually needed saving by her boyfriend, was when when said boyfriend gave her a cursed voodoo ring turning her into a statue of gold. Otherwise, she always had everything under complete control, rendering the game's main character basically superfluous. So who is my personal best video game woman? Well... When there's only one candidate, there's only one choice.
